They had spent many years at sea, and they had gone through many an unforeseen adventure.
But in all those years they had never seen an iceberg. And definitely not one of this size!
Fortunately, the sky was bright and the sea was calm.
Otherwise they might not have seen it in time.
But there it was and it left the crew quite upset.
“How many different things do you have to think about?” shouted Henning, the mate.
They all lacked the necessary experience as they had never before sailed these waters. Would it be better to deviate from the voyage or to stick as closely as possible to the original route?
“What do you think – how big is this iceberg?” asked Sven, the shipboy.
“I have no idea. Go get the pilot from his cabin!” answered Henning.
